Visit Peru - CuscoCuzco is the principal attraction of Peru. Although overall the city has the same architecture of all Spanish colonies, with the traditional plaza de armas, it's also full of remains from Inca civilization. But the part it's outside of the city, where you can see huge and amazing structures built with astonishing precision by the Incas. The cityCusco is located in the Mountains region, although making border with the Jungle. Altitude is over 3400m, so you need to carefully adapt to it. If you can rest on the first day you arrive and maybe take a slow walk getting to know the city. If you like museums, you'll have a hand full as Cusco is packed with museums. If you have to choose just one museum, go for Coricancha where you can see lots of relics and even mummies from Inca and pre-Inca civilizations. City tourThere's not much to say about the city tour. It's a half day trip to the nearest attractions. Although not as breathtaking as the next tours, the city tour offers some exciting places to visit, including Sacsayhuamán, an enormous stone construction. Be sure to listen to your guide as the explanations of how it was built normally amazes visitors. The Sacred ValleyThe sacred valley tour is a one day trip, by bus, and you'll see Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. Again, in all these places the ingenious Inca architecture doesn't cease to amaze visitors. Machu PicchuMachu picchu, one of the new 7 wonders of the world, is the crown jewel of your trip. There's nothing much to say, it's got to be seen to understand how breathtaking it is. To travel to machu picchu you have several choices. Machu picchu is far from cusco, it's a 4hour trip on train. |
